The Design School Southern Africa & Steele Model Studio Fashion Show

30th August 2010 at FTV Parkview

The future of South African fashion rests in the talented hands of The Design School Southern Africa students and in the vibrant catwalk personalities of Steele Model Studio models.

The Design School Southern Africa (DSSA) in conjunction with Steele Model Studio hosted their first student fashion show, which gave up-and-coming designers a chance to showcase their latest creations. This unique fashion show also created the perfect platform for Steele Model Studio’s aspiring models to get exposure. The young designers brought their best flare to the runway at the chic FTV lounge in Parkview and judging by the applause there was nothing amateur about this show at all. A collection of different design aesthetics and elements created a multitude of trends, styles, and fashion worthy of a second look. The talented students each got their spotlight moment thanks to DSSA and Steele Model Studio who came up with this exiting new way of introducing the future of South African fashionistas to the masses.

The first of many fashion shows was a huge success – the combination of spring in the air along with one of a kind fashion made for a wonderful evening - with local Celebs Loui Visser Fish, Kurt Darren, Marlon Roelfze and Ryno Bason also enjoying the show. DSSA in conjunction with Steele Model Studio is planning on hosting a fashion show every month and the next two shows have already been scheduled at the FTV lounge in Parkview for the 20th September and 9th October 2010, these fashion shows are a “must see” for all fashion lovers!

Being a graduate from DSSA, I myself have secured front row seats to every up and coming show in order to bring you an inside scoop on all the local Fashion, Style and Trends – for more information on the up and coming fashion shows hosted by The Design School Southern Africa and Steele Model Studio keep an eye on my blog (http://stanleyrawfashion.blogspot.com/) or join the official DSSA group on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=47330024666&ref=t).

Fashion is WEAPON of Mass Destruction

The Military look is the new edge on being fashion forward – this look is all about looking lethal, stepping out of your comfort zone and completely destroying the BOX! Leather-leather-and some more leather will define this edgy look, whether you go for faux leather or kill the cow make sure to get some great leather-studded items to pull together this trend!

Accessorizing is key for al the different trends and styles this year (2010/2011) – for the Military look make sure to find some great cut-off biker gloves, a leather arm band, some great head gear and keep your jewelry without the “bling”!

Shoes and Sunglasses will help create that bad-ass look: This pair of Christian Louboutin ankle boots with lace up-front design is on trend with a glammed military look – and a pair of Aviator sunglasses will bring back the “top-gun” look in a chic and provocative way!

Top Tip

Stay away from authentic Military memorabilia like camo and army-green!! The idea is to have a military inspired look and not an inspired military look!!
