The Winnie Mandela Bio-Picture
Staring
Jennifer Hudson & Terrence Howard

Stepping out of my comfort zone I launched my self into the movie industry to work on a very exciting new movie: “Winnie” staring award wining actress Jennifer Hudson portraying the role of Winnie Madikizela Mandela, and Terrence Howard playing the role of Nelson Rolihlahla Dalibhunga Mandela
(Nelson Mandela).

This period inspired film tells the story of Winnie Mandela, filmed with in South Africa staring amazing actors, both local and international.

Wardrobe

Coming from the Fashion industry I had no idea what it entailed to be part of a Wardrobe team, but working as a junior designer in pre-production, as well as on sett has been an amazing experience. All the costumes produced are amazing, from 1920’s African attire right through to current day styles and trends-everything designed and sewn by an amazing team!

It was definitely a new concept for me to look at yesterday’s trends and styles to build up the characters’ looks and personalities but it became exciting and extremely fun. Every last detail became important, from actual period fabrics and accessories, through to authentic African beading and Headdress that will unquestionably transport you to a time in South Africa’s history never before seen on the big screen.

Here’s Some Stills and Photos for Winnie the movie!

Jennifer Hudson In Full Costume – The Star

Meeting Jennifer Hudson

Jennifer Hudson’s first fitting was a very anticipated and exciting time with in the wardrobe department. It was magnificent fitting the costumes I worked on for Jennifer and watching her transform into character. She is truly a phenomenal actress and wonderful human being and I’m honored to have had the opportunity to work with her!

Meeting Terrence Howard

Terence is truly a “cool” guy, he made sure to greet every person on the wardrobe team personally and during one of our fittings Terence came out in full Nelson Mandela costume to take a break and chat to the crew.

Shooting on Location

South Africa will come alive on the big screen as you watch this movie; the production team went high and low to find spectacular backdrops for every scene. From my home town Pretoria all the way to Cape Town’s Robben Island, the Transkei, Soweto, Sophiatown, and Johannesburg CBD, every location meticulously sourced to be as close to the actual place the character
would have been years ago.
